Back From Holiday, a Week Before Billing

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

I took the RRC on the holiday to Yorkshire.  We stayed on the southern edge of the North York Moors (Wass).  It’s a great area, and York not only lived up to my fond memories, but exceeded them.  Everyone has their favourite place, and I reckon mine is Stonegate.  The holiday involved a fair bit of driving (about 800 miles over the week, including getting there), and unfortunately the transmission vibration is as bad as before, though at slightly lower speed.  There is also a noticeable thunk from the rear transmission as the clutch is let up about half way, after the initial thunk of the slack in the gears.  I think it’s either a radius arm bush or the A frame joints.

The 109 hasn’t leaked a drop of water inside during all the rain, but I did notice that a spider has spun a web from the steering wheel to the cubby box.  Helena will not be pleased – she’s not keen on spiders!

    Quick update:

The RRC’s clunks and wandering did transpire to be the bushes – they were replaced after getting home and the problems were eliminated.

I have since been back to York with Helena (leaving the kids at their grandparents). It’s still my favourite place on Earth – having lived near the city for a couple of years in the early ’90s, it somehow feels like home.

    Nick.
