Filling Up

I just thought you might like to see what 75L of vegoil looks like before dropping it in the fuel tanks! I got this from Tesco, and it woks out at slightly less than half the price of diesel. I still intend to use waste vegoil, but my garage is full of tools an materials for the house at the moment, so I have nowhere to filter it. Predictably, I got a lot of stares while pushing a near-collapsing and almost immoveable trolley around the store with five cans in it, and the equally predictable banal comments, but paying about £35 for all that fuel instead of over £70 is worth the mild inconvenience.
Pouring the fuel into the tanks is a mild hassle, having to remove the seat bases and tank covers, but it’s a much easier location than having 88″ style exterior necks on both sides for standard front tanks, saves getting splashes all over the side of the vehicle and is also a lot more secure. Besides, it looks better too. It takes about ten minutes to fill both tanks, so is a lot less convenient than filling the rear tank with diesel, but with a saving of £35 for ten minutes labour, it works out as an rate of £210 per hour and that’s got to be worth the effort.
With the change in duty regulations, if I keep buying this vegoil, it should save me about £1300 per annum, but once I can start collecting waste oil from the chip shops, it should be nearer £2400. Furthermore, like I previously mentioned, the engine runs much more quietly and smoothly on the cheaper fuel.
