Axle Swap – Transfer Box Gear Change.

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

The swap to later axles is raising the diff ratios from 4.71: to 3.54:1.  It would be quite possible to fit the 4.71 crown wheels and pinions from the SIII axles to the new units, but since the Tdi should cope with the 35% gearing increase fairly easily, I have chosen to benefit from the [...]

110 Salisbury rear Axle (Part 4)

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

110 Salisbury Rear Axle (Part 1)

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I have started in earnest on the 110 rear axle for the conversion.  The first job was to clean it up, which consisted of a good wash, removal of all of the suspension brackets (including the damper and anti-roll bar brackets) and a long session with the angle grinder and drill wire brushes.
Next was replacement [...]
