Bonnet Hasps

I have aquired and refurbished a pair of MoD/Camel trophy spec bonnet hasps to replace the cable operated bonnet catch. The existing catch seems to become very stiff to release, despite regular oiling of the mechanism, and I’m worried that it may eventually seize. For the moment, the cable operated catch is working reasonably again, but I had to slacken its adjustment to acheive that.

I’m not sure if I’ll fit the hasps yet – they look reasonably tidy, having been cleaned up and sprayed matt black (with gloss black for the bracket that bolts to the bonnet). Still, they’re not terribly pretty and may lead to scratching of the bonnet paint. I’ll leave them for a while, fitting them if the cable release starts stiffening up again or if I decide I like the look of them after all.
