CB Woes

It appears that the CB I bought is probably faulty.  I will be taking it for testing and repair by Thunderpole (Northampton) early next week.

On the plus side, that means that my antenna system is almost certainly good to go.  The dash is all set up, ready for the CB to be permanently fitted.  I will be using the proper Midland dash mounting kit instead of the plastic tray that I have tried so far, which will be neater and more secure.  I had planned to fit the CB in the lowest of the three slots in the Mud console because of the CB’s length fouling the sloping section of the fascia behind the console, and have moved the stereo up from that slot to make way.  However, even though the stereo is significantly shorter than the CB, it too fouls the fascia.  This is forcing the rear edge of the stereo down a little, putting it on a slight slope that creates a gap around the bottom of the stereo’s face and is putting extra strain on the console’s plastic front.

I may move the stereo back to its original bottom position, move the switches to the middle (I had hoped to avoid that) and fit the CB in the sloping top slot, parallel to the fascia, which has the greatest depth of the three.  It should, at least, be a simple job to move them all around.  I’ll post some photos of that when it’s done.
