Minor Trim Accessories

I finally got around to fitting the five “curry hooks” and the two cup holders I bought a few years ago from Mudstuff.  The hooks around the gutter rail, for hanging jackets and the like, are secured with the screws that hold the headlining in place – I just had to drill one central hole in each hook between the existing two holes so that the hooks would be supported centrally.  The fifth hook was fitted to the dash for its intended purpose of holding carrier bags upright while driving.  The cup holders were fitted to the wheel arch cut outs.  Not an ideal place, considering they will get a little in the way of the kids’ legs when used, but there were few other practical locations and they are a very neat fit in that location.  It shouldn’t prove much of a hardship, though – no more so than the wheel arch being in a similar position on the new TDCI Defender rear seats.

While I was doing that little interior job and also fitting the Masai windows (which required the removal of the rear trim), I decided to recover the side panel trims with new vinyl.  The old vinyl was scratched and heavily marked by two storage nets on one side and the first aid kit mountings and glow-stick clips on the other.  As the first aid kit was preventing the BareBox locker from fully opening and the glow-sticks had been moved to the cubby box, so I wanted to remove those brackets and move one of the storage nets across from the other side.  Both panels have been recovered and fitted with one central net each.  It looks much tidier now and allows easier use of the storage bins.
