More Work for Alun

Alun came round to have a listen to the Range Rover’s engine running on SVO (straight veg oil) mixed 50/50 with diesel.  It’s pretty quiet and smooth, and runs well, confirming  the correctness of my plan to run the 109 on 100%SVO from the front tanks via the heated filter.  He also had a look at the WOR matting.

We talked a bit about the seating, and he’s going to knock up some plans for the second row seats’ inboard mountings.  The outboard rails of the seats will bolt onto the tub wheelarches, but the inner rails need a box section rectangle to secure to the floor.  As I want to fit the seatbelt buckles to the top rear corners of these frames (to avoid having buckles trailing across the floor), these frames will need bracing to withstand the forces transmitted by the seatbelts in an accident.  He’s confident that fabricating these will only take a few hours.
