The tub, seat box an bonnet have been ready for painting for some time. Today I finished re skinning the driver’s door and preparing the hard-top sides. These will be sent for painting ASAP.
The only remaining panel prep work is to make the roof panel watertight and to cut the alpine light apertures. This should be done next week.
I fitted the returned vent flap today (driver’s side). Not easy – the bulkhead galvanising left zinc plugs in the hinges, making the hinge pin very difficult to fit. I got them in eventually by using a bigger hammer.
If I can get a new battery-starter cable made up soon and bleed the clutch, Ill fit the left wing (easier to do those tasks with the wing off). Depending on the final design for the battery mount, I may be able to fit the right wing at the same time. Once the wings are on, I’ll sort out the engine and heater intakes and front wiring/lights.
