Roof

roof 1roof 2roof 3The roof was ready today after all, so I have collected and fitted it. It has a few minor imperfections on the gutter rail that will need touching up, but the overall job is good, and the best news is that it won’t need flatting back or machine polishing, just waxing. The seat belt should anchors have been fitted for rows one and two; I just need to aquire or fabricate some brackets for row three.

I ordered a new pair of B pliiar braces today (the galvanised braces that run from the back side of the door latch to the front outer corner of the rear bulkhead in a 109, 90 or 110) as I found that one of the originals had a 1″crack on the bend rendering it scrap. While I was in the dealership, I also ordered up a pair of “gunsmoke grey” Discovery II rear door badges (the lettering will match the Land Rover badging I have already fitted to the grille panel). I’ll just be using a few of the letters from each decal strip to make up some front wing badges – instead of Tdi, TD5 or V8, mine will read SVO to reflect the vegoil fuel that I’ll be running on. It’s a little different and breaks up the slab of black paint. I also have two black and silver RRSport 4.2 Supercharged rear tailgate badges for the same locations if I decide they look better.
