Shiny Wheels

I got the alloys back from Pristine today.  They’re very shiny!  They have the same appearance of finish as new LR alloys, but they have had the full three layers (several coats each) of powder coating primer, colour and lacquer done much more thoroughly, covering the entire wheels except inside the hub bosses (as that would be too tight on the hubs and would also crack).  I have only quickly checked the front of three of the wheels, but they look perfect – no bumps, pits, hollows or dust, just a perfectly smooth and even high gloss metallic coat.  The photo seems to look like there are small particles of dust or dirt, but that’s just down to a few of the metallic particles in the colour coat reflecting the flash – I’m really pleased with the quality of the work (the photo doesn’t do them justice at all), and as long as they turn out to resist corrosion, will continue to be happy.  I think they’re going to looked great on the 109.  I’m surprised at how light they feel without the tyres fitted, too.  I don’t think it’ll make a huge difference to the weight of the bonnet or back door once they have their tyres shod, but it’ll certainly be an improvement.
