I have finished one of the side panels – the pictures show:

The marking out of the new aperture – there’s quite a size difference. The lower forward radius impinges on one of the rivet heads that secures the front peg mount. That rivet was removed; the window frame rivets will replace it later;
Drilling out the spot welds securing the mid-length vertical brace;

Trial fit of the side window and refitting of the vertical brace. Tiger seal was used along the entire contact faces, so the strength of bond should be as good as with the original spot welds. Rivets will secure the very top as before and the bottom flanges where they were originally spot welded to the internal ledge;
The second panel has been completely stripped inside, and only a little remains to strip on the exterior. Then the same alteration work will be carried out on that one.

Hi Nick,
The side panels are looking really good -what method did you use to strip the paint off?
Regards,
John.
