The psitons and bearings arrived from Turner Engineering this evening. Late, but not their fault – the courriers were simply incompetent and despite loading the parcel on their truck for delivery on friday and again for a special delivery on Saturday, they never turned up. frida Turner was a bit surprised to get my enquiring call this afternoon, but she chased them up hard and got the package delivered by 1545, allowing me to take one of the pistons to the engineers for measurement prior to reboring the block. They reckon I’ll be able to collect it on Thursday. I plan to start the rebuild over the weekend.
The voltmeter and oil pressure gauge no match in the dark, and with the green bulb paint, look a lot better co-ordinated with the other illuminated items on the dash. The same is true of the main panel’s 3-in-1 temperature and fuel gauge cluster. The blueish tinge to the speedo’s lighting has turned to almost no illumination at all with the green bulb – evidently I’ll be repeating the interior painting on this instrument next. Hopefully, I’ll get the speedo out and painted tomorrow or on Thursday and refitted on Friday.
