There isn’t a lot to say here, because it was just the completion of the groundwork set by the last few days. The stalk switches are all wired up and tested, and I resolved the malfunctioning of the “Smart Screen” intermittent wiper and auto wipe with washer jet box (bypassed to original SIII function yesterday), so that’s back up and running too. I had to repair one of the dash retaining captive nuts, which had again broken its plastic surrounding and needed epoxying back in (hence the finger holding back the right side of the dash in the photo). The trim piece on the top edge of the parcel shelf between the instrument binnacle and the Mud centre console was refitted today, the photos being taken last night in the dark and me missing that one detail (the hours spent in the cold without a break may also have been partly responsible). The wiring was a squeeze inside the column shroud, but by running an extension sub harness for the wash/wipe switch over the left side, the top closed down nicely; there was too much wiring on the right hand side with the other three switches and the fuse box wiring all going through there.
I refit the mud shield under the wing, so that’s another little job (that turned into a bigger job because of the rotten tab spot welded under the wing top failing and a new tab having to be fitted).  I also had a little practice welding some scrap steel this afternoon, and the borrowed auto-dimming mask worked a treat – I could see what I was doing at all times, and my welds were so much better. I still need more practice before the steering box bracket, but the pump bracket should be OK. Anyway, here are some photos of the completed column and steering wheel. I may add a little black foam sheet to hide the back edge of the ignition switch between the shroud and binnacle, and a picture of the switchgear with modified wiring tails.
