The pedal boxes both went in (primarily to clear some space on my workbench). The brake master cylinder (new) has been wiped with engine oil and wrapped in an oil soaked rag to try to keep the rust away while it’s exposed.

Very nice! I am looking for a replacement mastercylinder, which one did you get and how do I get it off the vacuumhousing? -seems to be stuck-

I bought a new Lucas/Girling unit, so avoided the Land Rover Genuine Parts price mark-up but got the original manufacturer part, so quality is good. The master cylinder was fitted to the bulkhead about four years ago, and still looks the same, with no corrosion or even dulling of the passivation (goldish coating).
The cylinder is mounted to the servo by just those two nuts. If you have removed the nuts and the servo is no coming off, then you may be having trouble with some corrosion in the bolt holes or between the neck of the master cylinder and the recess in the servo. Don’t be tempted to use heat to remove it – brake fluid is inflammable and you’re likely to have a severe fire or even an explosion.
