RRC Update

Not a lot to report here other than that the overhauled brakes are performing really well with no more ABS or ETC warning lights (the HD front drive flanges are probably partly responsible for that too).

The hazard lights stopped flashing on alarm arming/disarming.  Apparently, this is not an uncommon fault and is usually due to a blown fuse on one of the satellite fuse boxes below the driver’s side dash (yellow 20A, top row, second from the right).  This relay is shared by the headlight washer pump on RRC soft dash and 300Tdi Discovery models, and it is a fault in this pump that has cause the fuse to blow.  I need to check the pump – sometimes they get jammed by some debris from the washer tank and draw excess current as a result, though the motor could have failed.

I still hope to fit the rest of the aircon system this year, but time will tell.  I now have all the components except for the damaged pipe to the condenser unit, but that may be repairable if it’s not fitted with a charging valve.  It’s just a big job, needing the removal of the entire dash, and I don’t know how to do that – a friend does, though, so if he can free up enough time, we can get that bit done in a day or so.
