Quiet Bulkhead

After making cardboard templates, I cut and fit shapes made from the blank sheet of Noise Killer’s barrier mat to the engine side of the bulkhead. the underside of the bonnet and inner wings will also be covered. I also fitted the cleaned and repainted TD5 heater assembly, which uses the same top montings as […]

Rolling Chassis

Not a lot needed doing to the axles – the front axle had been rebuilt a couple of years before with new bearings, seals, rubber gaiters and brake cylinders. The swivel pins and Railko bushes had been done prior to that. The rear Salisbury axle was replaced with a new unit from MVS at about […]

It looks really smooth and high quality. the rest has been painted with Hammerite Underbody Seal (brushable Schutz), which is a mixture of Waxoil and bitumen. It doesn’t look great, but I prefer it to a bare galvanised chassis, and it offers […]

Chassis Arrives

The chassis has been delivered four weeks after ordering. It took four of us to lift it off the flat bed and carry it into the front garden, where the rebuild will take place. It’s sitting on axle stands waiting for painting. I’ll leave it month to dull down so the paint adheres better.
