Instruments

main instrumentsI have ordered a Defender oil pressure guage to match the battery condition guage I picked up at Billing. I have also received the new speedo and combined fuel/water temp/oil temp cluster, which will receive its oil temp from the sender in the oil-cooler prepared sump.

Hi there, do you know what the part number is for the oil temperature sender please? Is it the same as the water temp sender? cheers steve

  2. Sorry, I don’t – I have the LR SIII Parts Catalogue, but it only includes the standard parts – the optional equipment is all contained in a second catalogue. The sender certainly looks similar, and the oil’s temperature range may compare to the standard engine temperature. The best thing would be to either order an oil sender from your local specialist or contact Holden.co.uk , who supplied the 3-in-1 gauge shown in the photo (by the way, it has to be wired up without the voltage stabiliser) to find out if the two temperature gauges are supposed to use the same senders. I’d guess at them being different, with the oil temperature sender having lwoer values to indicate “normal” temperatures at a cooler value than the engine temperature, but then again, that could all be taken care of within the gauge itself.
